What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of alternative therapy commonly referred to as energy healing. It involves the transfer of universal energy from the practitioner’s palms to their patient in order to restore physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual energy flow in the body. A treatment consists of a light, non-manipulative touch in several positions around the body.

Distance Reiki

Distance Reiki provides the same powerful and effective benefits as “in-person” Reiki, just with greater reach and ease of access. It’s practiced under the belief that just as energy transcends time and space, so too does this form of energy work. As such, it can be sent to anyone, anywhere, and at any time without a person having to be physically present.

Here, the Reiki practitioner will connect to Universal energy, as well as to yours—forming an energetic bridge through which to send healing remotely. Healing may also be sent not just across vast distances, but to past (historical events, traumas, childhood, etc.) or future occurrences (appointments, events, situations, etc.) in order to clear all blockages that have—or have yet—to come.

All that is needed for the session is a recent picture of yourself so that the practitioner can create the connection to send Reiki. You would then discuss any issues or areas of concern prior to the session with your practitioner, and touch base afterward to discuss issues, insights, or emotions that came up.

It is recommended that during the session you find a quiet and comfortable space in which to sit or lay, that you turn off any electronic devices, and that you relax for the duration of the session. While Distance Reiki may also be effective if you are working, shopping, running errands, etc., there may be less awareness of healing sensations (tingling, heat, etc.) if you are busy and distracted during your session.

*Distance Reiki sessions are currently offered by Deb Ash only.

Deb Ash

Deb Ash (She/They)
Usui Reiki Master, Facilitator of Guided Meditation

A deeply feeling human in an often insensitive world, Deb found sanctuary in the form of inner peace and self-regulation with meditation and Reiki.

As a Type A (recovering) perfectionist consistently working in fast-paced, high stress, and often critical environments, Deb was in a chronic state of fight or flight. She heard about the benefits of meditation, so she decided to check it out. Instead of working on connecting with breath, living more presently, and learning to meditate as natural first steps, she just dove in and started her journey by becoming a meditation teacher as an assumed shortcut to “Zenville.”

Spoiler Alert: It wasn’t. Since then, she has slowed down, taken pleasure in doing the work, and settled into daily practice…which has enriched her life in unimaginable ways. Deb tried Reiki for the first time in 2016 as a last-ditch effort to try to manage emotional, mental, and physical pain. She was hooked after one session. After spending a few years receiving Reiki — deepening her connection with her higher Self and her guides, shedding limiting beliefs, healing on all levels, and leaning into her life’s path, she completed her Reiki Level I and II in 2020 and received her Reiki Master shortly after in 2022.

Deb believes in living with intention and creating a safe and inclusive space where everyone is welcome and acknowledged, wholeheartedly and without judgment. She would love to hear your story, whether it’s through distance Reiki or in-person sessions.
