It might sound like a stretch, but yoga isn’t just something you do, it’s who you are. Here at The Space, we do our best to embody such ancient teachings in order to make space for those around us and help change their lives for the better. We know the power of community, and we understand that we are truly stronger together.
We are committed to making yoga accessible to all people regardless of personal or financial circumstance. In honour of this, we proudly offer two karma classes every week:
Hot Hatha – Mondays from 6:15pm-7:15pm
FREE with a food bank donation (item or monetary donations are welcome).
This heated class is a great place to experience an active, but approachable, yoga practice. Here you can expect movement with longer holds in each posture to allow for a little more time for alignment cues. There will be a range of sitting, standing, balancing, and back strengthening postures in this multi-level class.
Pay It Forward Program
Give the gift of Yoga and purchase a drop-in class for someone in our community that may be facing financial barriers. (After your purchase, email us to let us know you’d like to add it to our program).
To use one of these pre-paid classes, email email@example.com to inquire if there are passes available, and which class you’d like to use it for.
For survivors of domestic violence. Please contact us for more information.
This trauma-informed private class combines Hatha and Restorative Yoga with breath movement to reduce stress and allow you to give back to yourself through movement medicine. There will be no preregistration to keep the anonymity of the student.
Unlike a traditional yoga class where you remain in the room for the duration of the session, you are free to come and go as you need. Safe, welcoming and non-judgemental, the class is styled to account for added emotions to arise, and to help guide the release of extra stressors from life.
All classes will be in honour of Colleen Sillito, a yoga and art teacher from Fort Saskatchewan whose life was cut short by domestic violence.
The Space also takes care of its neighbours through silent auction class pass donations, donation-based karma classes (collecting items of need), sponsorships, and monetary donations. To date, we have supported:
