In response to the Alberta teachers’ strike beginning Monday, October 6, 2025, The Space is stepping forward to support both teachers and students in the community.

Teachers play a vital role in shaping our communities, yet many Albertans may not realize that during a strike, teachers receive no pay. Recognizing both the stress and financial strain this creates, The Space will provide free in-studio, regular scheduled classes for all teachers throughout the duration of the strike.

At the same time, The Space is extending a special membership to high school students, who are also directly impacted by the strike. For just $99, students can access an Unlimited One-Month Membership, allowing them to stay active, manage stress, and focus on well-being.

Cynthia Walker, owner of The Space, shared:

“Teachers give so much of themselves every day to support and guide our children. At a time when they are facing uncertainty and financial strain, we want to create a space where they can come to breathe, move, and restore. This is our gift to Alberta teachers, a reminder that their well-being matters, too. And by offering students an affordable membership, we’re supporting the next generation in making wellness a priority during these challenging times.”

The Space offers a variety of classes, including different styles of hot, warm, and unheated yoga, pilates, and fitness, all designed to be accessible for every level of experience. To access the classes, teachers simply need to present their Teaching Certification ID card or Interim Certification at the studio, and students will need to present their Student ID in the studio at the time of purchase.
